Addition to the June newsletter as this failed to upload.
The AGM went well but due to
the fact that it was a bank holiday and it was raining cats and dogs
outside the numbers of members attending was pretty good so thank you to
those made it.
Lots
of things were discussed especially what was going to happen to the
airframe when it is finished, have all the crash site been looked at, we
do need further information on the two Dartmoor ones and the underwater
sites off Jersey, the secretary was asked to try to make contact with
members of the walking and diving fraternity who may be able to help.
Also
discussed was the constitution, apart from two minor adjustments it was
passed by the members and when signed by the committee it will be
passed to HMR&C as part of our attempt for recognition as a charity
for the purpose of gift aid.
After
lunch a presentation was given by Dave Gibbings MBE on the history of
Westland followed by a talk on the project by Patrice Moreau and finally
a short film excerpt from Jim Munro's upcoming documentary "Ghosts of
the Whirlwind" all surviving pilots and ground staff have now been
interviewed apart from Arthur Lee-White who lives in Canada and a member
of the production team will be on his way to Canada shortly to rectify
that.
